Offering a limited supply of premium bee nucs Spring 2025
We are offering 2025 unmarked and marked 5 frame bee nucs. They should be available beginning around April 19, 2025. This could vary a few weeks either way depending on Mother Nature and other variables that we can't control. The queens you will be getting are bred and raised in Texas so that have that local flavor and adaptability that is important. Most of their mothers come from Hawaiian Kona bees though. See below about why that is a good thing.
Kona bees are known for having a stronger developed resistance to Varroa mites and diseases. They are also big honey producers. When Varroa Mites came on the scene 20 plus years ago, Hawaiian beekeepers made the conscious decision not to treat for this new pest. This resulted in 90% of the bees dying the first year but the 10% that lived became the new survivor stock that was bred for decades to give us these hardier battle tested bees. These bees are Italian but have been bred in Hawaii for decades. What's not to like? Hawaiian Kona bees are a great option for new beekeepers.
Well don't worry, I have a deal for you. We are offering a delivery / setup service for beekeepers who are new to beekeeping. So often I find people who are interested in keeping bees but the lack of entry level knowledge tends to scare them off or keep them from getting into beekeeping. If you live within 60 miles of Gainesville, Tx I will deliver, for a fee, your order of bees and then help you put them into your woodenware. This would a great opportunity to show you see things to look for in a hive and give you a quick little beekeeping lesson. This is meant to be a one time kind of deal so don't expect to see me weekly.
Nucs are a way better option vs packages for several reasons. These are established colonies and all the bees in the hive are descended from that queen. You already know the queen is accepted and you have brood at various stages. A nuc just puts you way ahead vs a package. Packages of bees are just a ball of bees who probably aren't related and thrown into a big box with a caged queen inside. She most likely isn't their queen and you have no brood or food stores available from the outset. Its just more to overcome so I only offer nucs to up your odds of becoming a successful beekeeper.
If you own between 5-20 acres in Texas then you probably could qualify for a massive property tax savings on your land. We lease our bees to you and you do nothing but pay us and save money. Pricing depends on location so each contract is different. Call for more details. 940-284-0655. Agriculture exemption service with honey bees is a great, yet simple way to save on property taxes.
I am a certified Master Beekeeper through Texas A&M's Master Beekeeper program. Its 'kind of a big deal' to steal a quote from a movie. The point being is that I am not just some guy who thought raising and selling bees would be fun and watched a bunch of YouTube videos to do it. There were only about 30 something of us last I heard.
We love our customers! Do you have a question? Are you looking for something that isn't in our store?
